Software development is a tale of promises, requirements, designs, building the wrong software (many times) before you work out the software required.

Like a journey, every step you discover something new or different to what what you were told. The process of creating software teaches you what the software needs to do and how it should work.

The path to creating the right software will often takes you down the path of creating the wrong software.

The fog of software development

I remember playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on my Nintendo. At the start of the game you can’t see the map and you don’t really know where to go and what the goal of the game is.

When you start the map is all one big foggy screen apart from where you are standing.

As you move around the map starts to clear and you learn about your quest. You get smaller quests, up skill yourself and weapons, this allows you to progress in the game.
