The advice given by King (and other writers such as Orwell) is detailing the process they go through when writing and editing their work.

Rules don’t work all the time but there is difference between knowingly not adhering to a rule and not knowing a rule.

The rules are a mechanism to reduce words used and sentence length, most writers and articles would benefit from this.

Try rewriting this article using those rules and it would improve it by removing the waffle
