Desire, good will and belief fuels software project plans. Like a bubble blown with washing up liquid. They start well, good sized and beautifully float into the air like magic. The bubble swirls on the breeze and looks wonderful.

The next minute, the bubble has popped, and everything has gone.

Software projects go from being on track, slightly late to completely broken and emergency meetings.

The slow start

Software projects try to start quickly but have to start slowly. It takes time for the project to start up. The following activities kick off

  • Developers to understand the business
  • The Business to understand the technology and processes
  • Every needs to onboard
  • All the individuals need to create relationships to allow collaboration
  • Planning, process creation, setting up development and DevOps.

The start of the project has high sprints, a positive vibe, focus on the benefits and everyone is optimistic.
